Spider Vein Removal
Most people who develop spider veins have one burning question. How can I remove my spider veins? Since spider veins occur in superficial leg and facial veins, the preferred method of dealing with these unsightly little veins is sclerotherapy. This method involves injecting a solution into the veins that causes it to eventually fade into a memory. Sclerotherapy does not actually remove the vein from your body. the removal of spider Veins...is referred to as a phlebectomy. For some larger spider veins and some varicose veins, your doctor may recommend this procedure. A phlebectomy actually sounds more scary than it is, and it does involve the removal of the affected vein. This procedure is most often performed in an outpatient setting. For a phlebectomy, two small incisions are made for each abnormal vein to be removed, one at the top and one at the bottom of the length of vein. The vein is sealed closed by various means, and the spider vein is then removed through one of the incisions. Once this has been completed, the incisions are repaired, and the procedure is finished. For even larger varicose veins, some doctors may recommend surgical ligation and stripping of the vein. Removal of varicose veins in this manner does require a short hospital stay. During you surgery, the selected varicose vein is ligated, or closed, with a clamp then surgically stitched closed. The affected length of vein is then removed much like a phlebectomy but on a larger scale. If you and your doctor choose to remove your spider veins or varicose veins, make sure you completely understand and follow your doctor's instructions before and after the vein removal procedure. This will insure that you have a complete recovery AND no more unsightly veins to see in the mirror. Keep in mind that it may take several weeks for you to recover, and plan accordingly.
